You can use it to get an NDI signal from your iMac and convert it to an HDMI signal to your switcher. It also works with OBS NDI output to an HDMI TV. Each device is identified by its IP address, and you can add several without conflict. However, half of them will not work when connected to an HDMI DA. Magewell has been non-responsive, and some customers have had issues with burnt USB power ports and crackling audio. The video quality is solid, but latency is about half a second. Otherwise, it does what it says it does, and it is fast and easy to deploy.
