The Norpro Silicone Steamer with Insert is a versatile and flexible kitchen implement used primarily to steam food. The three parts are soft and easy to clean, and the steamer is dishwasher safe. The vegetable basket is 7" x 6" and has a height of 2", while the base is filled half-way with water. The product works well and produces steamed food with excellent results, although it is small and may hold only one to two servings at a time. The steamer can be used in the microwave with a metal pot and is not recommended to use directly on the burner. Although suitable for many foods, some reviewers have found difficulty cooking hot dogs evenly.
