    atbildi: The child has to suck to get the liquid out, but the cups don't leak. My grandson used his from 6 months until he started to chew on the soft plastic spout at 18 months. Now he's on the hard plastic spout. I think the spouts are the same on the 4oz and 10 oz learner sippy cups.

At 9 months old she sometimes sucks so fast leaning on a pillow she chokes herself few times. She doesn't know how to balance the bottle high enough in the air to feed herself. Hope it works.
