The Toroid Core FT240-43 Ferrite is a low to medium permeability material used as a 1:1 choke or current balun for rectifying the impedance mismatch between the antenna and the 50 ohm coaxial cable. It helps to lessen common mode current coming back down the coax, resulting in reduced RF noise, especially in situations where the radio is affected by external electronic or electrical sources. It is suggested to use two of these toroid cores for 600 watts. It can also help cut down RF returning to the radio. However, it requires to be wound as a 1:1 choke and needs to be placed as close to the LED power source as possible. It needs to choke out any wires long enough to act as an antenna for FM.
