Seri Kodansha'nın Bessatsu Shonen Magazin adlı aylık manga dergisinde 9 Eylül 2009 tarihinde yayınlanmaya başlamıştır ve şuana kadar 15 manga kitabı (tankobon) çıkmıştır.Shiganshina bölgesinde yaşayan Eren Yeager ailesi ile burada yaşamaktadır. 100 yıl kadar önce ortaya çıkan Titanlar nedeniyle insanlar dıştan içe doğru Maria Duvarı, Rose Duvarı ve Sina Duvarı denilen yüksek duvarlar ve bu duvarlar içine kurulan şehirlerde yaşamaktadırlar. 100 yıldır Titanların saldırısına uğramayan insanların hayatı bir gün 60 metrelik Muazzam Titan'ın (Colossus Titan) ortaya çıkmasıyla tamamen değişir. Bulunduğu duvara Muazzam Titan tarafından gedik açılan Eren'in yaşadığı bölge diğer devlerce istilaya uğrar. Bu istila sırasında annesi gözleri önünde bir titan tarafından yenilen ve tahliye olmayı başaran Eren en yakın arkadaşı Armin Arlert ve üvey kız kardeşi Mikasa Ackerman'ın yanında bütün Titanları öldürme yemini eder, üçü beraber bu hedef uğruna askere katılırlar. Serideki şehirler Almanya'da ki Nördlingen şehriyle benzeşmektedir.Hajime İsayama tarafından ilk olarak 65 sayfalık bir one-shot olarak çizilen seri 2009'da serileştirildi. Bundan sonra birkaç tane daha spin-off seriye ve Attack on Titan: Before the Fall' isimli light novel'e ilham olan seri Japonya'da 2014'de en çok satan seri olmuştur.
