I used my fluke laser thermometer to measure the temps and this did not get hotter than 45-46°C. Most high bandwidth WiFi direct USB devices of this size get hot to the touch, nothing to worry about.

Will this work with a Bluetooth steering wheel?

Not too sure. If it’s an Xbox compatible steering wheel and similarly connected wirelessly via Bluetooth, then you can give it a try.
